" Who we are

Who we are

“Our ideas go into action rather than just on paper.”

YLAT group photo

Maine’s YLAT is a dynamic group of young people and adult partners from across the state working together to make sure that youth in care have the best possible experience. We believe that this partnership has a powerful role in improving foster care experiences for all youth in care in Maine. YLAT members passionately seek to improve outcomes for youth in foster care with a sense of duty, on behalf of all future youth who will come in contact with the system.

YLAT logic model

YLAT currently has sites in Bangor, Caribou, Calais, Saco, Lewiston, Rockland, and Augusta, and activities include monthly regional meetings, numerous speaking engagements, participation with reform work groups and committees, statewide events, and theatrical presentations. Young people in Maine, ages 14-21, and former youth in care, ages 22 and older, work together with caring adults from local communities, businesses, foster families, social service agencies, schools and universities, and DHHS, to advance the work.
