YLAT strives to give the best voice to youth in care and partners itself with other organizations who also offer resources and support within the larger community. You can visit the website of any of our partners which are listed below.

Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine – Supportive services for adoptive and foster parents, as well as kinship placements.

​

A Family For ME - A Family for ME is a partnership between the Department of Health and Human Services and Spurwink Services, with a focus on raising awareness of the urgent need and finding Maine families who are willing and able to parent children in foster care.

​

Camp to Belong Maine (CTBM) – CTBM reunites siblings for one week during the summer who have been separated because of foster care or other out-of-home care.

​

Camp Tracy Camp Tracy is a beautiful 32-acre YMCA Camp located on the waterfront of McGrath Pond in Oakland, Maine, and home to Maine's Fenway, a 66% scale turfed replica of Fenway Park in Boston. With a unique blend of Day Camps, Residential Sports Camps, Sports Tournaments, Team Building Retreats, and Special Events; Camp Tracy is truly a one-of-a-kind facility. Camp Tracy is operated by the Boys & Girls Clubs and YMCA of Greater Waterville at the Alfond Youth Center in Waterville, Maine.

Cody's Closet - Cody's Closet is a closet for all things for teens related specifically for teens in foster care. cody's Closet is located at the Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine (AFFM) Bangor location. Cody's Closet was created in memory of Cody Markham, a foster care Alum, who never stopped working to improve his life. He died in a fatal car accident in 2022. In his honor, Cody's Closet was created for teens in foster care to have a place to shop specifically for them.

Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) – CASAs are trained volunteers who give advice to judges in court on the best interest of children who are in the Maine child welfare system.

​

Department of Health and Human Services – Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS) –  General information about OCFS as well as programs and services offered through this division can be found on their website.

​

Educate Maine - Educate Maine advances education policies and practices that prepare Maine students to be the next generation of productive, engaged citizens.

​

Foster Youth in Action (FYA) – A national organization dedicated to creating partnerships with like-minded groups to create positive policy and practice changes for all foster youth nationwide.

​

Foster Care Alumni of America (FCAA) – A national group founded and led by alumni of the Foster Care System.  FCAA connects the alumni community and works towards transforming foster care policy and practices.

​

Healthy Acadia We empower people and organizations as we build healthy communities together. We envision vibrant communities where people thrive and healthful resources are easily accessible. We serve Washington and Hancock counties, and we provide additional community health support and leadership across Maine.

​

Maine Family Planning OUR MISSION is to ensure that all Maine people have access to high-quality, affordable reproductive health care, comprehensive sexual health education, and the right to control their reproductive lives.

​

Maine LEAPMaine has joined a national effort called Learn and Earn to Achieve Potential (LEAP) led by the Annie E. Casey Foundation and adapts two evidence-based models to build solid pathways for young people from high school to post-secondary education and careers.

Maine Youth Action Network (MYAN) - MYAN’s vision is for communities throughout Maine to foster the healthy development of youth and create a thriving network of engaged leaders.

​

Maine Youth Court – Youth Court is a program that provides support and accountability for young people who have violated the law or a school rule through a restorative, peer-led approach. Trained youth volunteers act as advocates and facilitators using a restorative framework to create a collective agreement.

​

Maine Youth Transition Collaborative (MYTC) – Community partners working together to ensure that youth transitioning from foster care have the resources and opportunities they need to be successful adults.

​

New England Youth Coalition (NEYC) – NEYC is made up of current and alumni foster youth and adult allies who “work together to better the quality of life for youth involved with the foster care system through education, advocacy, and improvement of policy and practice.”

​

The Telling Room - At The Telling Room, we empower youth through writing and share their voices with the world. As a literary arts education organization focused on young writers ages 6 to 18, we seek to build confidence, strengthen literacy skills, and provide real audiences for our students. We believe that the power of creative expression can change our communities and prepare our youth for success both now and in the future.

​

Youth & Community Engagement (YCE) is part of the Catherine Cutler Institute at the University of Southern Maine. YCE works with individuals and communities to leverage their leadership and build their skills, resources, and capacity.
