1991 Teen Conference

1st-Teen-Conference-e1452803279909-395x2

Since 1991, Maine has held an annual, state-wide conference bringing together current and former youth in care, OCFS adult partners, and YLAT staff. Each conference is planned collaboratively by YLAT staff, the Teen Conference Planning Committee – a group of youth who meet monthly to organize the day – and Youth Transition Specialists. The conference provides a yearly opportunity for folks across the state to learn, connect, and celebrate their resilience and strength.

Each YLAT Teen Conference includes workshops, awards, a professional keynote presentation, and boundless opportunities for people to connect. Workshop topics are chosen each year by YLAT members and focus on both formative skill-building and creative activities. Youth consistently report positive feedback regarding connecting with peers, learning key information to help them achieve their goals, and gaining an understanding of resources and opportunities available to them.
