Drivers License and REAL ID 

Real ID

Beginning in May 2025, Mainers are required to obtain a Real ID to travel and enter certain Federal Buildings within the United States. Another acceptable form of identification for domestic travel or entry into a federal building is a passport. To learn more about the Real ID, such as cost and documentation needed, refer to the flyer or links below.

Driving

Are you interested in obtaining your Driver’s License? The Office of Child and Family Services can help! Young people aged 15+ can take driver’s education to begin the process of getting a license. The Department can help pay for driver’s education, and any driving hours you may need towards your license.
