The 34th Annual Teen Conference
2024  Conference Highlights!

The 34th Annual Teen Conference for Youth in Maine’s Child Welfare System and the adults who support and care for them; was held on June 26, 2024, at Saint Joseph's College 278 Whites Bridge Road, Standish Maine. 158 individuals attended this year’s conference, theme “Threads of Belonging: Start Today, Soar Tomorrow.” Our keynote speaker Gaelin Elmore shared their experiences and how they have overcome many barriers with passion and were filled with positive encouragement, emotion, and education. Young people who attended the conference stated they could relate to the speaker, the presentation was motivational and informative, and the positive messages of resilience, empowerment, and self-improvement is possible.

YLAT is a joint project between Maine’s Youth in Foster Care, The Maine Department of Health and Human Services, and the Catherine Cutler Institute at University of Southern Maine. YLAT is committed to improving the short-term and long-term outcomes for youth who are or have been in foster care.
